When most children make a wish
through the Make-A-Wish foundation it's usually for trips to
Disneyland, computers, or shopping sprees, but not five year-old Tyler
Willis. His wish was extra special. He wanted to become a United States Marine!
Tyler didn't want to just become a Marine, he wanted to do the things that
Marines do, as well. He wanted to wear camies, fly in a helicopter and ride
in a
tank.
"It's extremely unique," said Linda Thompson, Executive Director for the
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina, of his wish to become a
Marine. "This (wish) is something real positive and uplifting for him to
focus on."
Started in 1980 in Phoenix, AZ, the Make-A-Wish Foundation exists to grant
wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
