Poems

by April Gosnell, age 10, from US

New Dress

Oh, look at the silk upon that gown.
And the beautiful sparkles all the way down.
When they made that dress, they must not have been in a race.
For look how nicely they did the lace.
And the fluffy white in the skirt.
Oh, it would be dreadful if you had just a speck of dirt.
My it's the loveliest dress of all!
It's just too bad that it's too small.

Flower

Look at that pretty flower.
Red as can be.
Standing next to a tulip.
And there's another one by that little tree.
There is one wrapped around that rose.
And another, as long as the hose.
There is an other close by a seed........
WHAT? WHAT? THAT'S A WEED!?

Where Is It?

Where are the baked potatoes,
that mama made us?
And the Alaskan white fish?
They're not on my dish!
And where is my pumpkin pie?
If I don't eat soon I'm gonna die!
And where's the drink of lemon lime...
What? Oh, it's not dinnertime.
