If Only...

by Jessie Lynn Williams, age 11, US

If only joy could last forever,
And happiness for more than a mere moment,
Fear would no longer reign,
And terror would be overcome

My life's purpose will have been reached,
And my soul will be glad,
For the good things have
Finally conquered over bad.

When joy is found
I will rejoice
For tears won't be needed
And screams won't last

Our lives will make us satisfied
We will be happy, and repent,
For our hungry souls
And our thirsty breasts
will no longer cry out to be fed.
