The Angel at the Top of the Christmas Tree

by Laura Manitta, age 7, from US

Once upon a time, there was a family who always bought a tree for Christmas. What excitement it was to the children! The Smith family decorated the tree on a Sunday, every year. For Sunday is God's day of rest. That particular Sunday was the Sunday the Smith family planned to decorate the tree.

"Can I put the angel on the top this year, please?" asked Susie, the Smith family daughter.

"I don't see why not," said Mr. Smith. "That comes last though. When the time comes, I'll lift you up on my shoulders so you'll be able to reach."

"Thank you, Daddy!" cried Susie.

"Now, you must be careful, Henry!" warned Mrs. Smith.

"Don't worry, Dawn! I'll be careful!"
