Baby Einstein

reviewed by the Coalition for Quality Children's Media

Baby Einstein addresses the theory that children exposed to different languages in the first year find it easier to learn foreign tongues later on. Stresses the alphabet, counting and nursery rhymes. Uses real-world objects and phrases in foreign languages. Adult Juror Comments: Large pictures, colorful, gentle voices. Exposure to multi-ethnic sounds. A little slow moving and choppy at times. Some visual scenes did not match the audio content. "I'd like to know how different languages at such short length help little ones." Kid Juror Comments: Introduction and focus on multicultrual aspects: faces, language and sounds. Babies were excited to see familiar objects. Languages need to be better explained. Did not hold every child's attention, too slow.
