THE HISTORY OF CHESS
Chess -- the Royal Game -- is said to be the oldest game of pure mental skill (meaning there's no luck to it, it's all skill.) Chess is played on a board, but it's really a battle game -- two different armies against one another. The goal is to capture the other army's King.
Where and when chess was invented is uncertain, but legend attributes it to everyone from the Biblical King Solomon to the Greek god Hermes and the Chinese mandarin Han-sing. Most likely, chess was created in India in the 6th or 7th century.
