INSTRUCTIONS:
Select a cardboard box the size you want your toybox to be. Try to get one with the lid still attached at one side. If you can't find one with the lid attached, fan fold the top shut, then use masking tape to close it tight. Turn the box over and select an adult to cut around the bottom of the box (to make it the lid.) Leave one of the sides attached to the box to form a lid. Once your box is formed, you can: |
Cover it with material:
Paint it. Paint the toybox with a solid color paint first. Something like an artists acrylic paint called "GESSO" works well. Even housepaint will work. (But ask an adult before you dip into the housepaint!) Let the base coat dry, then paint your picture on your box! Don't forget to paint inside the lid! |
Construction Paper it. Glue or staple colored construction paper to your toy box. In a rainbow of colors if you want (use 3" strips and create a wallpaper of your very own.) You can even paint or draw on it! To make neat edges, tape two pieces of construction paper together, then turn them inside out (put the tape on the inside, next to the box) and form a corner. Staple your construction paper into place |
